A comforting cheeseburger pie featuring ground beef, onion, cheddar cheese, and a Bisquick batter, baked until golden. Served with a homemade special sauce.
Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C).
In a large skillet, brown the ground beef and diced onion until cooked through. Drain any excess grease.
In a separate mixing bowl, beat together the Bisquick, milk, and eggs. Set aside.
Lightly grease a 9x13 inch baking dish. Evenly distribute the cooked ground beef and onion mixture across the bottom of the dish, then sprinkle all the shredded cheddar cheese over the top.
Pour the prepared Bisquick batter mix evenly over the beef and cheese layer.
Bake for 35-40 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
Optional: For a browned top, broil for the last minute of cooking, watching carefully to prevent burning.
For the sauce: In a small bowl, combine mayo, onion powder (to taste), garlic powder (to taste), ketchup, pickle relish, and mustard. Mix well and serve alongside the pie.
